There are two official Cardano wallets.

Daedalus Wallet

Daedalus is a full node wallet. This means that unlike light wallets (e.g.Yoroi, Adalite etc.) Daedalus downloads a full copy of the Cardano blockchain and independently validates every transaction in its history. That way you get maximum security and completely trustless operation, without centrally hosted 3rd party servers.

Yoroi Wallet

Yoroi is a light wallet for Cardano. It’s simple, fast and secure. Yoroi is an Emurgo product, engineered by IOHK. And it follows best practices for software in the industry including a comprehensive security audit. Daedalus and Yoroi are complements to what they try to achieve. Yoroi looks to be a day to day wallet for a Cardano user.

Which wallet should I use?

Due to its simplicity and lower system requirements most people chose to use the Yoroi wallet. It can be installed as a Chrome extension or as a mobile app. In case you are a beginner user and you want a simple, easy to use wallet on desktop or mobile, Yoroi would be the recommended option.

Scam warning:

Only use official links to the download pages. Never click on download pages from Google search, forums, etc. There are many malicious websites trying to serve “hacked” versions of wallets which will steal your coins. Cardano.org is the official Cardano website. Follow wallet download links from there.
